Youth & Children's Formation

WE JOIN THE PARISH IN LIFTING UP IN PRAYER THE NIU VICTIMS AND STUDENT BODY AS WELL AS STAFF AND FAMILIES. Please especially keep students Alex, Lark, Michaela and Tori, and staff members Gina and Sharon in your prayers.

Formation classes are in full swing!
If you haven't registered for classes, you can join in the fun by having a parent or guardian fill out a registration form (click here or find a printed form on the table in the foyer of the church). Just give the form to Director of Youth & Children's Formation, Liz Ryan or slide it into her mailbox by the offices and you're all set!

Did you know that we do all kinds of Outreach?! Yep, the two atrium classes are collecting for chickens and goats through the Heifer Project, the Middlers are leading the whole Formation group in collecting non-perishable food items for Salvation Army and the Jr. High collected items for the Animal House Shelter in Huntley. (A no-kill animal shelter.) The High School will be working at Hesed House and raising money for charity. And that's just to name a few! If you are interesting in helping out on one of these projects, just call Liz Ryan at the church for more information.

What's Happening? Happening is a Diocesan weekend retreat for high school kids full of talks, singing, laughing, praying, eating and spirit-filled fellowship. The next weekend comes up November 14-16. And it will be led by our very own Nate Nesbit! All high school aged youth are invited to participate. If you'd like to know more about this experience, just talk to Liz Ryan, Nate, Kim Ingraham, Emily Thomson, Mary Wolff, Robin Travis, Cory & Ali Blane or Taushia Mugge and they'll be happy to share information and applications. Are you in Jr. or Sr. High? Looking for a place to have fun, meet new people, be with kids who believe the way you believe? How about the Jr./Sr. High Retreat sponsored by the Diocese of Chicago! April 25-27 the crowd will be at Camp Algonquin (aka Camp Chicago) for a weekend retreat. Cost is $90 per person which includes room and board for the weekend.

New Beginnings is a weekend like Happening but just for Middle School or Junior high aged kids. It is led by high school kids and supervised by adults. Emily, Mary and Robin had a great time at this last weekend and are already planning to staff the next one! Are you a member of one of our YOUTH GROUPS? We have a Jr. High Youth Group (7th and 8th graders and their friends) and a Sr. High Youth Group (9th -12th graders and friends) who meet on the third Sunday of each month for fun and fellowship.
